Routine Appointments/Online booking
Consultations are by appointment only. Please book at the reception desk or by calling the surgery on
023 80841841. For online booking either use the NHS App (available for iOS & Android), the NHS App online or Patient Access.
You may express a preference for a consultation with a specific doctor. If your condition is non-urgent you will be offered the next available routine appointment, although you may have to wait longer if you choose to see a particular GP. For antenatal, postnatal, smear tests, or any special nursing appointment, please tell the receptionist of your needs in order that an appropriate appointment can be given.

Urgent Appointments at the Urgent Care Centre (Hythe Hospital)
Our Primary Care Network (Waterfront & Solent Surgery, Red & Green Practice and Forestside Medical Practice) now provide a combined Urgent Care Centre at Hythe Hospital.
Here we see urgent “on the day” cases from 8.30am until 6pm five days a week, with some extended cover to 8pm on most Mondays and Tuesdays.
The reception team at each practice utilizes a highly sophisticated algorithm developed collaboratively by a team of doctors from all three practices. This algorithm has been specifically designed to provide personalized guidance to patients, directing them to the most appropriate destination for their urgent medical needs. By relying on this algorithm, our reception team is able to offer accurate recommendations regarding where and when you should seek medical attention, ensuring that our advice aligns with the best course of action.
The Urgent Care Centre is staff by a highly skilled mix of doctors, advanced nurse practitioners, prescribing nurses trained in minor illness, paramedics and physician’s associates. Overseeing this team is a consulting GP.
For this system to work there are two things that are essential.
The problems really do need to be something that can’t wait for a routine appointment. Only the presenting problem can be dealt with. Please do not ask for repeat prescriptions or advice about other conditions or family members in these consultations. They are there to make sure you are seen quickly but we will rapidly get into trouble if we can’t keep to time.
Online Consultations
We now offer online consultations. We will be using eConsult – a platform that will enable to self manage and consult online with their own GP.
eConsult allows patients who are currently registered at the practice to consult with a GP electronically, and offers alternatives to calling or coming into the surgery for common, more minor problems. Using this service you can also access self-help content, alternative options available to you e.g. pharmacy, symptom checkers, access to 111 clinicians and as already mentioned, the ability to consult remotely with a GP. Click on the banner above.
Telephone Advice
If you need non-urgent telephone advice please give your number to the receptionist and some indication of the problem. A doctor or nurse will arrange a telephone consultation.
Cancellations
Please let us know in good time if you cannot keep an appointment. Non-attendance may mean somebody else missing out on an earlier appointment and can adversely affect the service we can provide.
Chaperone Policy
This practice is committed to providing a safe and comfortable environment and strives to achieve good practice at all times.
All patients are entitled to have a chaperone present during any consultation, examination or procedure. Clinicians at this practice will advise patients that a chaperone is necessary during any intimate examination; this is to safeguard both the clinician and you, the patient.
Where a chaperone is not available, the clinician will ask you to make an appointment and request the presence of a chaperone at the time of booking.
We only use clinical staff as chaperones as they have had the appropriate training and have knowledge of the examination or procedure you may be undergoing.
Family and friends are not permitted to act as chaperones as they do not have the knowledge required, nor do they have the necessary training.
Should you wish to see the full chaperone policy, please ask to speak to the Practice Manager. If you have any questions, please speak to the reception staff who will direct you to an appropriate member of the team.
