Access to the Service

Routine and same day pre-bookable services are available to any patient registered in West Hampshire CCG. Patients visiting from outside of West Hampshire will also be able to access the service via NHS 111 or urgent appointments.

Only patients registered to a West Hampshire CCG practice with a Data Sharing Agreement in place with the providers will be able to have their records accessed by the clinician. Patients will need to give consent to access the notes before the consultation with the clinician commences.

Unregistered or temporary patients may still access the services where there is an urgent need by calling NHS 111. When calling, NHS 111 will undertake a clinical triage to determine the most appropriate service for the patient to attend. If a UTC or Appointments+ service is identified as the most appropriate for the patient, NHS 111 will directly book them into an available slot.

How Do Patients Access the Services?

Patients will be able to pre-book routine and same day appointments through their GP practice. Urgent appointments will also be bookable through NHS 111 for West Hampshire and visiting patients.

For UTCs only, patients may also walk in to attend the service, however, the preferred access route will be through NHS 111 to enable patients to be directed to the most appropriate service for their need (following clinical triage). Where patients require a UTC appointment, this will be booked through NHS 111 to avoid patients needing to attend and wait at the UTC, this includes patients with an injury.

In line with the NHS England guidance, patients should be offered a choice of appointment location where appointments are available, for example, a routine appointment within the registered practice or alternatively in the UTC or Appointments+ service.
